everything is written
on that piece of paper
projects my mind's emotion
in a strikethrough
as every single moment
has never been missed
it's the pen that guides
my fate
there are times
when that pen strikes
with freedom and elation
upbeat of the things
I may move toward
fear none of uncertainty
in living a life
with pride
but when justice
no longer brings peace
and to breathe is a struggle
I'll park my pen behind
to find out which one
can write our shared cry
and reveal the same story
of quest.
